Who is at risk for Type 2 Diabetes?
1. Genetics: Having one or more parents or siblings who have diabetes.
2. Obesity: Being overweight causes your cells to become resist to its own insulin.
3. Ethnic Background: For unknown reasons, African American, Asians, Hispanics, and Native Americans are at a higher risk of type 2 diabetes.
4. Lack of exercise: Without proper exercise the body finds it hard to use up its glucose.
5. Age: Age is also a factor. Anyone over the age of 45 is at risk for type 2 diabetes.
